Behind the Golden Feather

The golden feathers that appear in the Space to Tame logo are not just there because they look pretty (although that is an added bonus!) there is in fact a story behind the feathers and if you have a moment, I would love to share it with you.

Associated with birds, feathers can signify both flight and freedom, but many cultures believe there is also a deep spiritual significance when a feather appears. The most common theory is that when a feather crosses your path, or you find one in an unexpected place it is a message from divinity. It could be a signal that you are on the right path, a message from a loved one, a clue to an answer you have been looking for, or even a sign that someone is watching over you offering protection.

My favourite theory is that a feather appears when your guardian angel is near, offering you the feather as a sign of hope and encouragement. A few years ago, I became disenchanted with my career, there was not an ounce of joy left in what I did anymore and so I knew I had to start making some big decisions, and pretty quickly!

For many years I wanted to be a counsellor, in fact I started studying it at college but then I got tempted into a more lucrative career. Before I knew it, I was on a treadmill and it took me 20 years to find the stop button. And so, I decided to start investigating counselling as a possible next move.

I though researching counselling courses would be a good place to start and as I opened my laptop, I found a feather lying on the keyboard. It was a pretty big feather, bigger than the usual kind that floats out from a cushion from time to time and thinking how pretty it was I picked it up and popped It into a keepsake box.

From that point on, I’m not exaggerating when I say that feathers were following me everywhere. People were pulling them off my clothes, one blew out of my handbag when I pulled out a pen to take notes, they were always blowing in front of me when I was walking down the straight and I even fund one buried in my dog’s collar.

They really were turning up everywhere, and yes, it may well be that because I started looking out for feathers well of course I would notice them more, BUT there were just way too many turning up in weird and wonderful places for this to be a coincidence.

I enrolled on a counselling diploma, and when I started my studies, I became really interested in other ways people could be helped, there were all kinds of weird and wonderful therapies that can help people live better and some of them called to me. When I started to explore Reiki, Hypnotherapy and EFT I’d find feathers – yes really - and honestly, I’ve been following them ever since.

And so, from following my feathers the universe had my back and Space to Tame was born. And in turn I want Space to Tame to have your back, I want to empower people to become their own guardian angel, their own protectors, their own compass and their own strength able to fly to their own freedom, whatever that means to them.

As for the gold, well that represents illumination, compassion, courage, love, wisdom and magic – all things I strive for at Space to Tame. So, what are you waiting for – just follow the golden feathers.
