COUPLES COUNSELLING
SPACE TO COMMUNICATE
Couples Counselling, Couples Therapy or Relationship Counselling is for any two people in any kind of relationship - family members, siblings, colleagues, friends and partners can all benefit from therapy. It can be helpful for any stage in a relationship for example, prior or during major life changes like starting a family, during periods of conflict or crisis or simply to create a better understanding of each other. It is especially helpful for couples who are struggling to communicate and want to develop new tools and resources to improve the relationship.
We offer an eight session programme which involves both counselling and skills training to improve communication and deepen understanding in your relationship. During the eight sessions you will learn tools and resources to help you understand your individual roles in the relationship, where they can be improved and how they work together. Each session lasts 90 minutes and take place every two/three weeks.
What will i experience?
During the first session you will get to meet with your therapist and discuss any issues you want to work on and what you would like to achieve from therapy both as individuals and as a couple. As the relationship with your counsellor is so important, the first session is also a chance for you all to decide if your counsellors approach and personality suit you and if you would like to work together.
If you decide to go ahead with the eight session programme your counsellor will provide a safe and confidential space and manage the session impartially to ensure you both have equal air time and an opportunity to talk through any issues and find resolutions together.
You will also be taught different communication models, tools and techniques to improve communication such as problem solving, listening skills, roles and patterns as well as exercises to improve communication and learn more about each other.
