Emotional Freedom Techniques often referred to as EFT Tapping or simply Tapping involves gently self-tapping with your fingers on the body’s acupuncture points along the meridian lines used in Chinese medicine. Recognised around the world for its therapeutic effect, EFT tapping can help with anxiety, weight loss, cravings, pain, stress, fears and phobias and a wide range of other issues.

EFT Tapping helps us tune in to the negative patterns that we form around our uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, or troubling memories. We ‘tap’ on the correct pressure points while bringing the thoughts or emotions into consciousness. The aim is to find relief, relaxation, and promote healing around the emotional or physical issues that hold us back.

We offer therapist-led EFT tapping by a certified and accredited EFT Practitioner and Counsellor, helping you to find the right wording to aid the technique and support you through the process. We can discuss any issues that may arise during the session and help you to focus and drill down on what it is you would like to change.

What will i experience

The EFT process is unique and involves tapping on specific meridian points around the body whilst verbalising what it is you want to change. It works best when you have a specific issue you would like to work on and although several issues can be addressed in a session, the best results are achieved by tapping on one issue at a time until the negative impact is significantly lowered or completely removed.

We offer face to face sessions from our Frederick Street office as well as EFT online via Zoom. During an EFT session, your experienced practitioner will help you ‘tap into’ your own experience of a presenting challenge or troubling issue to help you gain clarity and resolution. They will support you in making emotional and physical changes, shifting limiting thought processes, resolving past traumas and helping you find beneficial ways to move forward.

Your therapist will lead you in the tapping sequence and guide you on what to say out loud and you will simply mirror this, tapping on yourself and repeating what is said. You will use a distress scale of 0 - 10 which helps you to understand the intensity of feelings at the beginning of a session and the aim is to get that scale down to a very low number or a zero, so that you understand the effect EFT tapping is having throughout the session.

Your practitioner may frequently interrupt you during the process, bringing you back into focus on the issue at hand. This is an important part of the therapy as the more detail and attention paid to the issue, the more effective Tapping will be. It is important not to move on to something else or lose your train of thought. Your therapists’ ability to pull back your focus and work consistently through one issue at the time is just one of the benefits of having a one to one practitioner led session.

EFT can be used as an individual therapy or combined with any of our other therapies to support change and growth. Each EFT session lasts for 60 minutes and most issues can be addressed in one to four sessions.
