COUNSELLING FOR INDIVIDUALS

SPACE TO TALk

Whether you feel a little lost, have suffered painful feelings and difficult experiences, or you simply want to make some changes but don’t know how, counselling can help.

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space where you can explore life’s challenges and issues with the support of a qualified and caring professional. Through this collaborative process you will be helped to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so that you can develop a better understanding of yourself and others, make positive changes, resolve issues and feel a greater sense of wellbeing.

We offer integrative counselling to individuals, combining theory and techniques from the three main counselling schools of humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy. This means we tailor our therapy to each client, not each client to the therapy.

Encouraging mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellness, we can also integrate relaxation and holistic therapies into our sessions to promote healing, relaxation and bring back balance to help you become your best self.

What will i experience?

You can see a counsellor for short term support or have long term weekly appointments depending on your circumstances and preferences. We offer a self booking system so you can choose your own appointment times and how often you want to attend.

During your first session, your counsellor will talk you through the counselling process, answer any questions and then ask you to go through your history and what you would like from counselling. As the counsellor / client relationship is so important to the process, the first session is also a chance for you to decide if you would both like to work together and if the counsellor’s approach and personality suit you.

We will then work with you on a session by session basis helping you achieve your therapy goals. As each session is tailored around your specific needs it’s difficult to say what will be covered but it can involve discussing your history, relationships, behaviours or any area of your life. Your counsellor will listen to you without judgement and work with you to find ways forward.

During a session, your therapist may take you through specific exercises designed to help with your problem, or you might have more general discussions about how you're feeling. We might use techniques from other therapies such as NLP, EMDR or Hypnotherapy depending on what you want help with and your individual preferences.

Counselling is offered in person at our Frederick Street office, online via zoom and over the phone. Please get in touch to discuss your individual needs or to book an initial appointment.
