Breathing is something we all do without having to think about it, yet it is essential to our survival. As we breathe we provide oxygen to the cells in our body, creating the energy our body needs to function. Breathing also removes carbon dioxide, a waste product from our system and the breath directly influences our nervous system. The breath is the only system in our body that we can control and it can be harnessed as a powerful tool, yet many of us do not learn how to use it and experience its many advantages.
Breathwork is the the practice of learning how to control and change breathing patterns to provide us with a wide range of benefits to both our physical and mental health. It is a natural, simple and powerful practice that is easy to learn and not only delivers immediate results, but also has long term health benefits.
Learning to breathe to your fullest capacity has many benefits for general wellbeing and there are a range of techniques and practices that can be applied for different purposes, aiding ways to relax, calm, soothe, energise and invigorate us as well as balance our body’s systems. This makes it especially helpful if you are experiencing stress and anxiety, low energy, sleep issues or want to improve your concentration and general wellbeing.
We offer breathwork coaching which includes an initial breath assessment to help you breathe to your full capacity, as well as the practice of breath awareness. We are certified to deliver over twenty different breathwork techniques designed to help you breath effectively and can apply different breathing practices to calm, energise or balance your body and mind.
What will i experience?
During your first session your breathwork coach will begin by assessing how you are currently breathing and teach you how to adjust you breath so that you can breathe to your full capacity. You will then be taken through a breath awareness exercise which is a foundational technique used in both mindfulness and meditation practices.
After your assessment your coach will help you define your primary areas for improvement based on your personal circumstances and any issues you have or areas you want to improve. We use over twenty different breathing techniques, each with unique benefits and there is a breath that can help with nearly every need.
Depending on what you want to improve, you will learn two specific breathwork practices in your first session that are chosen to meet your goals. If you have a number of things you would like to improve or you just want to learn a wider range of techniques once you have experienced the many benefits of breathwork, you can book a follow up session at any time.
Follow up sessions focus on building your own breathwork toolkit by teaching you a wider range of breathing techniques which are tailored to meet your needs. You will be taken step by step through each practice, building your understanding of the benefits of each technique, when they should be used and how to use them effectively. Breath assessment and awareness is not included in follow up sessions.
Please note if you struggle with nasal breathing, or have a medical condition that affects the breath some techniques may be unsuitable. This will be discussed at your assessment and we will adjust your session to accommodate whenever we can.
